Polstead Club Site is set on the edge
of a beautiful conservation area and provides our guests with a host of nearby activities or an opportunity to simply relax in the beautiful Suffolk countryside.
Nearby places of interest include:
Sudbury (7 miles) where
you will find Gainsborough’s birthplace and residence, a gallery open to the public. There is also a traditional market
in the town centre every Thursday and Saturday. The railway walk from Sudbury takes in some very pretty locations.
Long Melford (8 miles) where you can visit Melford and Kentwell
halls, splendid Tudor Mansions and many antique shops. This is also one of the locations used for the British TV Series Lovejoy.
Lavenham (7 miles) has a magnificent 15th century church
and many timber framed buildings, including its exhibition on local history and delightful walled garden.The Guildhall is
and essentail trip - one of many National trust buildings in the area.
Polstead (1 mile) which is noted for the Red Barn murder of Maria Marten in 1827, Britains
most celebrated historic murder.
The walk from the site takes you through the bluebell woods. You might even hear
the Nightingales singing towards dusk
Boxford (2 miles) Has the Fleece, the World famous Jazz Pub,
The Heraldic Garden and the newly refurbished
White
Hart gastro-pub (Highly recommended).
Kersey (2 miles) a pretty postcard village with a ford
crossing the main street—a painter’s paradise.
Willy
Lot’s cottage and Flatford Mill, painted by Constable are located in the
Stour Valley at East Bergholt.
Hadleigh (3 miles) whose high street offers banking, post office, modest supermarket and
some superb pubs and restaurants, along with some lovely unique shops and a very realxing walk along the river.

For those with sporting
interests, there are Golf courses in nearby Newton Green, Stoke by Nayland and Hintlesham
Hall.
Dog walks, walking and cycling opportunities are plentiful.
Leisure centres with swimming pools are found in Hadleigh (3 miles) and
Sudbury (7 miles).
